My uncle told me once that he wanted to look unique when he was old and I have adopted that mantra. I went to a Christian school for 11 years as a kid and mom said it made her sick every time she had to cut my hair to “keep it from touching my ears and collar.” I couldn’t find anything about that in the Bible, or about “Rock & Roll” sending me to Hell, and so I’m going to look unique when I get old, sail on and rock & roll! (iPhone 12 Pro Max)iPhones today take great photos at night with almost no effort. Here are a few boats docked at the Annapolis Yacht Club that I passed in the dinghy on my way back out into the Severn River on Thursday night. (iPhone 12 Pro Max)I should write a whole post about the Seven Seas Cruising Association. It’s on my to-do list. Last weekend I attended their Annapolis GAM. It was amazing. Do you know what a gam is? Back in the days of whaling when two ships pulled alongside each other to share news and shoot the breeze, the meeting was called a gam. (Canon R3, 15-25mm f/2.8)If you want to easily spot your dinghy, get a red one. There’s Big Willie docked with all of the gray dinghies in Spa Creek. (iPhone 12 Pro Max)I’m pretty excited to attend the Salty Dawg Sailing Association banquet this week to hear John Kretchmer talk about sailing hundreds of thousands of miles across oceans. If you haven’t read his books… put that on your to-do list! (iPhone 12 Pro Max)Share Sailing AvemarProvisioning done! Big Red Willie was loaded with everything except for me. I’m not sure where the mandolin was in this photo. It’s on the boat now and so it must have been under the clothes or the groceries or the spare wood or the propane tanks or next to the fuel jugs. (iPhone 12 Pro Max)When you have a rental car for a dentist appointment that’s near a Krispy Kreme doughnut shop, it’s only appropriate to stop for a visit. Dr. Huddle was off from work on Wednesday and so I took a dozen assorted to all of the hygienists so they wouldn’t hurt me. I made it out unscathed and my teeth are fine. (iPhone 12 Pro Max)I left the box of assorted Krispy Kreme doughnuts at the dentist’s office but I bought myself a dozen chocolate covered custard filled and ate two in the parking lot after my cleaning! These doughnuts run in my family’s blood except they ate them after church on Sunday nights. (iPhone 12 Pro Max)Of all of the Mount Gay Rum sailing hats I’ve had over the years, only my J/22 Worlds cap remains. I lost my 1995 Screwpile Regatta hat out in the Atlantic back in June. (I still have a blue 1994 Screwpile hat from the year Pusser’s sponsored the regatta). Here’s the sunset last night, complete with my “old man” sweater. It’s cold in Annapolis this time of year!
