Looks Great Bill. I've been looking for something more compact that will bridge the gap between the iPhone and my Pentax K-70. This may fit the bill. By the way, I took my Pentax K-30 Backpacking. With a strap connector from peak design, it worked great. I just had to limit my lenses.
These are beautiful! So my 15yo daughter is thinking about pursuing photography. She been using her iPhone, but I’m thinking about purchasing her first camera for Christmas. I’ve gone down a rabbit hole of best cameras for amateurs and I’m lost. I grew up using a Nikon. It’s what my dad used and taught me on. But in your opinion, what would be the best camera to get her (realizing that in 6 months she may decide she doesn’t want to photography after all). And what’s your preference for photo editing software?
I'd use Lightroom to import and catalog my files and edit if I was starting over. If I were going to carry a camera every day, all day, and shoot for fun and just to document anything, anywhere, I'd take the Fuji. It is highly sophisticated but can be shot in full manual or full auto or anything in between. It only has one wide-angle lens. (You can probably find the X100V easier than the new VI). If I were going to pursue journalism, wildlife photography, portrait photography, or weddings or to start taking classes, I'd likely get a mirrorless DSLR with the ability to use interchangeable lenses. My preference now is Canon. I have a low-end RP and a high-end R3 with all of the lenses. Canon is making some fantastic gear at the moment. Visit Ken Rockwell's site for reviews on the cameras you are considering, and you'll learn a lot. https://www.KenRockwell.com is the URL.

The Fuji is a fantastic camera if you can get your hands on it. I love it. I have zero negative things to say about it.
Looks great. I'm a Canon girl and amazedmat the quality my Android can produce. We bought an Olympus pas sport water resistant and Steve loves it.
Love my Canon gear too.
You make me want to become a photographer. Inspirational!

Thank you so much for this information!
Similar recommendations but he wrote a post with much more info on best starter cameras: https://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/recommended-cameras.htm
*Should have proofread that… 🤦🏼♀️. It’s the end of a long day.
I don't know much about photography, but the shots look great. Fun times!
